God did it again! He blessed me with another opportunity to bring a mission team home to Maine—such a gift, especially as June marked my 2-year anniversary of becoming a full-time missionary! Our goal was to bring the Good News of Jesus’ love and redemption with us everywhere we went.

On Sunday, we held a women’s fellowship gathering in Fairfield, Maine. It was an opportunity to share testimonies of Jesus’ redemption in our lives as well as a time of prayer, communion and worship. I was encouraged and challenged to share my own testimony of redemption with these women. Sharing that once I was abandoned, heartbroken, betrayed yet Jesus has redeemed my story, giving me first of Himself as my One true love and secondly, an earthly kinsman redeemer and lover of my heart in Mykola. He has given me a new name, a new home, a new community, and now the miracle of a baby on the way. He is faithful my friends!

On Monday, we served widows and the elderly in Bingham, Maine. A place many find themselves alone, in desperation of support they just can’t seem to find. In the evening we hosted a Women’s fellowship event of which we had 80 women attend at a small congregational church! It was an incredible outreach to bring the story of Jesus’ love and His desire to walk with each one of us to those women. It was a time to gather the many women of the area for a joy filled evening just for them. Just for building community and reminding these lovely ladies they are seen, they are not alone and they are greatly important. Did I mention, my mom came too!

On Tuesday, we made our way to Solon, Maine to visit and share with the residents and staff of New Hope Women’s Shelter. This was another opportunity to bring hope, encouragement and the truths that God is always in it with us. We spent a great amount of time hearing the stories of the women there, building up faith and praying over each one of them, residents and staff. We worshipped and we fellowshipped and we dreamed of opportunities to come again!

On Wednesday, we spent our morning serving in the summer heat at the Lighthouse Soup Kitchen in Waterville, Maine. Another opportunity to bring new life to a place serving the down and out, the hurting and the marginalized. We found ourselves serving meals, cooking and cutting in the kitchen, building up staff, encouraging those who walked in the doors and praying over all that we met there.

On Thursday, we ended our week with ministry in Madison, Maine, my hometown. We served again some widows and elderly in need of help with routine projects outside of their reach through lawn care, in-home cleaning projects and fellowship. We brought life back to dead spaces, cleanliness back to dirty places, and hope back into hearts. We then hosted a special luncheon for the wonderful women of Christ Community Fellowship, my sending church. We simply got to bless the women of this congregation through serving them, honoring them and encouraging them in their seasons of life, many of which find themselves in their upper years. What a blessing it was to reconnect with many of my personal prayer warriors!

By week’s end, one thought echoed in all of us: “The work isn’t done here.” This community is hungry for connection, encouragement, and the Gospel. I long to continue bringing life and hope to the place where I first met Jesus.
